California Lawyers Association’s IP Section Webinar: Generative AI: Understanding Basics, Unraveling IP Complexities, and Establishing Robust AI Policies

Intellectual property partners Ron N. Dreben, David V. Sanker, Ph.D., and Olga Berson, Ph.D. will be presenting a webinar titled Generative AI: Understanding Basics, Unraveling IP Complexities, and Establishing Robust AI Policies to the California Lawyers Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section In-House Interest Group on October 24, 2023.

This webinar will review patent and copyright challenges presented by generative artificial intelligence (AI), addressing topics such as AI’s role as an author/inventor, the concerns surrounding non-human authorship, the nuanced dynamics of joint AI-human inventorship, and the positions of content creators versus AI service providers with respect to scraping material from the internet for large language training purposes. The program will examine unique hurdles and opportunities that generative AI introduces, using the pharma industry as an illustrative example. To conclude, the speakers will discuss key issues to address in AI usage policies.
