CFIUS Update⁠–Current Trends and Issues 

Following the first anniversary of the adoption of FIRRMA and the Pilot Program Regulations, our partners will reflect on the changes introduced in the regulatory review process by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), including when the new “GP exemption” is available as well as the new regulations under FIRRMA proposed by the US Department of the Treasury in September.  

We may have further proposed implementing regulations for defining “emerging technologies” from the Bureau of Industry and Security and we will cover the future implications of those forthcoming regulations as well during the program. These issues will likely have wide-ranging consequences for foreign investment in Silicon Valley and for companies in the technology arena generally, as well as the life sciences industry specifically.
