Employment Law in Puerto Rico: What You Need to Know

Thursday, July 17, 2014
12:00 PM - 01:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time

Doing business in Puerto Rico requires understanding and complying with employment laws that can be quite different from those in the rest of the United States and elsewhere. Companies with employees in Puerto Rico (and even those that simply contract for services in Puerto Rico) face multiple challenges in adhering to the island’s employment laws and their myriad constitutional, statutory, regulatory, and judicial components.

Join us for an informative, one-hour webinar that will provide you with practical, strategic guidance to help your company avoid employment law pitfalls when operating in Puerto Rico.

Topics will include:

  • Complying with Puerto Rico’s “just cause” statutory termination standard.
  • Conducting a reduction in force (RIF) that meets Puerto Rico’s legal standards.
  • Drafting and implementing valid separation agreements in Puerto Rico.
  • Wage and hour law in Puerto Rico, including Christmas bonus rules.
  • Understanding and adhering to Puerto Rico’s leave laws.
