Morgan Lewis partner and shareholder activism defense practice leader Keith E. Gottfried was a featured speaker at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Capital Area Chapter’s program “Shareholder Activism: Shirting Sands and Deeper Water” held on February 13, 2019 at the Washington Golf & Country Club in Arlington, VA.
Keith participated in a panel on shareholder activism moderated by James Handlon, the chief executive officer of Bottomline Partners. The panel also included J. David Scheiner, the former chairman of the board of directors of Perry Ellis International, Inc., and James Miller, senior managing director for corporate governance at Alliance Advisors, LLC.
The focus of the program was on the latest trends in shareholder activism and how public company directors can identify areas of vulnerability and proactively prepare for when an activist targets their company.
