Nuclear Export Update 10 CFR Part 810

Wednesday, October 16, 2013
01:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

Energy partner Alex Polonsky, along with Tamra Domeyer, Associate General Counsel at Exelon Generation, will serve as a faculty speaker for “Nuclear Export Update/10 CFR Part 810,” a b2bwebinars.net event.

In September 2011, the Department of Energy (DOE) published proposed changes to Part 810 — the first significant proposed changes since 1986 — and requested public comments. The commercial nuclear power industry and other stakeholders submitted to the DOE a significant number of comments, causing the DOE to rethink its approach to some aspects of the revised rule. On August 2, 2013, after considering stakeholder comments, the DOE issued a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNOPR) for Part 810. The DOE is once again seeking public comment.

Alex and Tamra will provide a short overview of nuclear export controls imposed by the DOE, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the U.S. Department of Commerce. They will then discuss the significant changes in the SNOPR and explain how they view the proposed rules’ impact on business in the nuclear sector, both domestic and abroad.
