Electric power companies need to be prepared if they are to effectively manage Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections.

Recent actions by OSHA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) make clear that nuclear power plant operators must also now prepare for a possible OSHA visit. Until recently, the nuclear industry was largely immune from OSHA enforcement because of NRC preemption. However, OSHA - with apparent support from NRC - is now inspecting and citing nuclear facilities under the OSH Act.
