What to Do When OSHA Calls

Wednesday, April 18, 2012
12:00 PM - 01:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time

Electric power companies need to be prepared if they are to effectively manage Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections.

Recent actions by OSHA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) make clear that nuclear power plant operators must also now prepare for a possible OSHA visit. Until recently, the nuclear industry was largely immune from OSHA enforcement because of NRC preemption. However, OSHA - with apparent support from NRC - is now inspecting and citing nuclear facilities under the OSH Act.

Join us for an interactive webinar and learn more about OSHA inspections of electric and nuclear facilities and what you should do if an OSHA inspector shows up.

The following topics will be addressed:

  • An overview of OSHA's jurisdiction, standards, and regulatory agenda as applicable to these industries
  • How to effectively manage OSHA inspections
  • An overview of the different (and sometimes overlapping) enforcement authority of OSHA and NRC at nuclear facilities
  • Challenging OSHA's inspections of nuclear facilities
  • What you need to do to minimize your liability if OSHA comes to your site
