Claire Swift Kugler

Claire maintains an active pro bono practice, advising a nonprofit organization that works on behalf of individuals with food allergies. She also represents veterans and individuals in litigation involving constitutional rights in various courts, including the US Supreme Court.

• Represented energy company in successful appeal regarding insurance policy interpretation before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
• Represented a global paper company in a multibillion dollar environmental lawsuit before a Texas district court and the Texas Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals affirmed a take-nothing judgment for our client. 
• Represented a global beverage manufacturer opposing motions to dismiss before a Texas district court, the Texas Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Texas.
• Obtained dismissal for oil field services company in nine cases brought in federal and state court in the United States arising out of the explosion and collapse of the Usumacinta rig in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico. The Usumacinta incident involved the largest loss of life in a Gulf of Mexico incident. 
• Represented multiple companies in various insurance recovery actions. 
• Represented power plant owners, manufacturers, and oil companies in toxic tort and product liability litigation, including appeals and mandamus actions. 
• Negotiated and prepared contracts involving goods and services, engineered equipment, consulting services, and other services for Fortune 500 energy company.
