David Sean Cox

David Sean Cox represents corporate policyholders in the preservation, protection, and recovery of insurance assets. He has represented Fortune 500 companies in a variety of complex insurance recovery matters, including coverage disputes involving toxic torts and environmental property damage. David has also assisted clients in drafting specialty market insurance policies, particularly in connection with future environmental and toxic tort exposures. He has written and spoken on insurance coverage–related issues in a variety of forums.

David also maintains an active pro bono practice. He was part of a team of Morgan Lewis attorneys that partnered with public interest law firms to obtain a settlement with Los Angeles County in Guillory, et al. v. County of Los Angeles, a class action suit that has led to major reforms to the county’s General Relief program, a key program supporting those in extreme need. In covering the significant reforms, the Los Angeles Times wrote that “the county is modernizing how it lets homeless people, who make up 60 percent of the roughly 100,000 people on general relief, know about regulations, deadlines, and penalties.”
