Jacob A. Sand
Jacob A. Sand represents companies and executives who find themselves at the intersection of investigations, white-collar defense, and high-stakes commercial disputes. He serves as lead and national counsel for clients in federal and state courts across the United States, bringing a prosecutor’s focus on early fact development that can mitigate risk, build a defensible record, and shape strategy in court or in response to government scrutiny.
Jacob’s experience spans matters arising from allegations of fraud, governance and shareholder disputes, breaches of noncompete agreements, theft of intellectual property, false and deceptive advertising, employee misconduct, hacking and cybersecurity incidents, and allegations of institutional negligence. He leverages courtroom experience in federal and state courts nationwide to identify procedural and strategic advantages—from jurisdictional challenges and dispositive motion practice to coordinated management of parallel proceedings—to position clients for favorable outcomes.
In investigations, Jacob leads end-to-end fact-finding efforts, including witness interviews and the collection and analysis of digital forensic evidence, to help clients assess risk holistically and respond to crises with clarity and discipline. He takes a hands-on approach to all facets of the investigatory process to guide immediate incident response and develop long-term strategies designed to mitigate emerging risk.
Before private practice, Jacob served as an assistant district attorney in the Major Trials Division of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, experience that informs his emphasis on mastering the facts early to guide remediation, disclosure, regulator engagement, motion practice, or trial. He later became a partner at another law firm before joining Morgan Lewis.
