William Childress’s practice focuses on electronic discovery, information governance, and data privacy. He helps clients develop and implement efficient ways to manage increasingly challenging electronic discovery processes—counseling clients on all phases of discovery, including preservation, collection, document review strategy, privilege claims, negotiations with opposing counsel, and discovery motion practice. He has handled all phases of litigation.
William is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as an Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US). He advises clients on cross-border data transfers and compliance with international and domestic data privacy laws. He also helps companies develop information governance programs, including the creation of data management policies.
William is a leading contributor to the “eData Deskbook,” currently in its fourth edition, and has had articles published in various outlets, including The Legal Intelligencer, Law.com, and Bloomberg Law.
William clerked for Judge P. James Jones in the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia, worked as an associate in the litigation practice of an international law firm, and worked as a staff attorney for the Supreme Court of Virginia.
