The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has acted as an impetus for Hong Kong financial institutions to significantly ramp up the functionality of their online investment and banking platforms, as Hong Kong serves as a hub for financial institutions to service their clients in North Asia. Join Maurice Hoo and Helen Fok for a presentation on the Hong Kong financial regulatory landscape on digital banking, business opportunities, and challenges.

Specifically, COVID-19 has created the need for financial institutions to adopt more advanced technologies to interact with clients and to provide more investment solutions, but in some cases, the Hong Kong regulatory requirements have not been able to catch up with this trend.

Topics will include:

  • Effects of COVID-19 on the Hong Kong financial sector
  • Hong Kong’s current status as a reopening financial hub
  • How we assist clients to develop solutions to adapt to current laws on technology developments
  • Operational strategies as regulators around the world promote operational resilience for important business services versus traditional business continuity and disaster recovery planning
