PHILADELPHIA, May 10, 2016: For the second consecutive year, Morgan Lewis is pleased to host an emerging-leader mentee during the annual Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership program facilitated by the US State Department and Fortune in coordination with the Vital Voices Global Partnership. This year the firm welcomes Nga ("Hannah") Thu Doan, founder and managing director of LAWPRO Limited Liability Law Company in Hanoi, Vietnam, for two weeks of on-site mentoring with the firm’s executive leadership.
The lauded public-private partnership, now in its 11th year, pairs businesswomen from around the world with Fortune’s Most Powerful Women, whose ranks include CEOs, senior executives, and leaders from some of the most prestigious businesses in the United States, as well as from government and academia. The program’s goal is to encourage the next generation of women to bring positive change to their companies and communities by sharing best practices and organizational and management skills.
Ms. Doan will spend two weeks in Morgan Lewis’s Philadelphia office shadowing Firm Chair Jami McKeon, one of only 21 US representatives chosen by Fortune to participate in the 2016 initiative. During the program, Ms. Doan will also meet with key members of firm management and partners from various offices to discuss a range of topics, from leadership and mentoring, to the challenges of growing a business in a rapidly changing economy.
“We are proud to participate in this important program to help engage and empower a new generation of women leaders around the world,” said Ms. McKeon, who last year mentored an emerging business leader from El Salvador through the program. “We look forward to exchanging insights and experiences with Hannah and sharing best practices in the hopes that these can lead to future opportunities in her home community.”
An orientation for the program was held in Washington, DC on May 3. The month-long series of programming will conclude on May 24 in New York, where participants will reconvene to reflect on their experiences and discuss future leadership opportunities.
