PE Firms Brace for New Frontier in US Data Privacy Regulation, The Wall Street Journal

Morgan Lewis partner and co-head of the firm’s privacy and cybersecurity practice W. Reece Hirsch was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal for this article on how private equity firms are preparing to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). “There are a lot of things that have to be ironed out about the law, but one thing is for sure: It’s coming,” said Reece. While discussing whether there are any similarities between the CCPA and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Reece noted, “The two laws differ in many respects, so having prepared for GDPR compliance does not mean that you don’t have a lot of work to do.”
