The article explores OSHA’s expanding framework and the continued reliance on the general duty clause to address workplace hazards not covered by specific standards. Jason explained that this provision remains a key enforcement mechanism, particularly for emerging or difficult-to-regulate risks. “OSHA enforces a multitude of specific safety standards, but what it’s looking for overall is a safety culture where employees know that safety comes first, that their well-being is a valued priority, and that there are no excuses for acting unsafely,” he said.
