Press Release

Former General Counsel of ARAMARK Joins Morgan Lewis

July 16, 2010

PHILADELPHIA, July 16, 2010: Morgan Lewis today announced that Bart J. Colli—who served as chief legal officer at ARAMARK Corporation for the past decade—has joined the firm as a partner in its Business and Finance Practice, resident in Philadelphia. Colli served as the executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary of the $13 billion managed services company from February 2000 until last year. Since May 2009, when he retired from his position at ARAMARK, he has continued to provide legal services to the company on a consultant basis.

“Having overseen the legal department of a Fortune 250 company operating in 20 countries with 260,000 employees for over a decade gives Bart tremendous insight into the issues keeping in-house counsel up at night,” noted Firm Chair Francis M. Milone. “His significant corporate experience—and reputation as a highly focused, detail-oriented ‘working’ general counsel—will serve our clients well.”

While Colli was general counsel and corporate secretary, among other things, ARAMARK has gone public, gone private, made acquisitions domestically and overseas, defended class actions, private litigation, conducted internal investigations domestically and internationally, complied with SEC disclosure requirements, and developed and implemented its compliance program. He headed a legal department of 45 lawyers with lawyers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Chile. Colli was a member of the company’s Management Committee and he was also responsible for the legal aspects of all board of directors and board committee activities.

Immediately prior to joining ARAMARK, Colli was head of the Corporate Department at McCarter & English, LLP, New Jersey’s oldest and largest law firm. His work in private practice included representing a broad range of companies, from enterprises preparing for initial public offerings to large publicly traded companies, major financial institutions and private equity groups. A cum laude Harvard Law graduate, he began his career at a New York firm and was later a partner in the Corporate Department of a firm in Dallas. He now joins a Business and Finance team that spans the United States, Europe, and Asia, with nearly 300 transactional lawyers who focus on a wide variety of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, tax, finance, and capital markets.
