Morgan Lewis Boosts Financial Services Team with Seasoned Labor & Employment Partner in New York

January 31, 2011

NEW YORK, NY, January 31, 2010: Morgan Lewis today announced that Ira Rosenstein-who has more than 20 years of experience serving some of the largest employers in the financial services industry-will join the firm as partner in its labor and employment practice, resident in New York.  Mr. Rosenstein represents both large and small employers in traditional employment disputes involving claims of discrimination, wrongful discharge, violation of federal and state wage and hour laws, and Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower claims.

"At a time when employers in the financial services industry are under increasingly tough scrutiny, Ira's experience is a perfect fit for our team," noted Joseph J. Costello, leader of the Labor and Employment Practice at Morgan Lewis.  "His understanding of the complex issues companies face in today's market will serve our clients well."

Mr. Rosenstein has taken dozens of arbitrations to final decision before FINRA (formerly the NASD and NYSE) and the American Arbitration Association.  His practice is diverse, ranging from complex counsel and litigation over deferred compensation and commission plans, ERISA litigation, claims brought under the NLRA and FLSA, and state law wage and hour class actions to disputes brought under Title VII and the New York State and City Human Rights Laws.

Mr. Rosenstein also regularly provides counseling on employment and labor issues stemming from mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions, as well as general advice on executive compensation and the hiring or departures of senior executives or key employees.  Before joining Morgan Lewis, he was a partner at another AmLaw 100 firm.

In addition, Mr. Rosenstein is involved in pro bono activities.  He was a 2009 recipient of the Pro Bono Service award issued by the Legal Aid Society of New York for his efforts on behalf of the organization.
