Thursday, May 12, 2016

LOS ANGELES, May 12, 2016: Morgan Lewis is launching a series of videos that will provide vital tips and information for corporate in-house lawyers and human resources professionals to help them negotiate the complexities of labor and employment laws and regulations.

The online series, Employment NOW (which stands for Employment Notes and Opinions Worldwide), is spearheaded by Morgan Lewis partner Harry I. Johnson, who served as a member of the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) (2013-2015) until shortly before joining Morgan Lewis last year. Mr. Johnson hosts the first video in the series, “To Record or Not to Record,” which examines the sometimes tumultuous intersection between companies’ “bring your own device” policies and the National Labor Relations Act.

“Each episode will feature Morgan Lewis thought leaders providing timely insights on not only the latest legal developments but also compliance options for your organization,” Mr. Johnson says in introducing the initial video. “We aim to make this an essential resource for employers trying to stay ahead of the twists and turns posed by today’s constantly changing labor and employment law universe.”

Upcoming episodes in the series will illuminate such critical issues as the Department of Labor’s persuader regulations, the increasing scrutiny of independent contractors, workplace training, managing disruptive whistleblowers, workplace diversity and inclusion, and how the NLRB works. Additional videos are planned for the near future.

The videos will feature the insights of lawyers in the firm’s team of more than 260 labor and employment lawyers serving employers throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The practice is ranked in Band 1 for National Labor and Employment by Chambers USA (2015), one of only four firms to receive the highest ranking. The team was the winner of The Legal 500’s United States Awards for Labor and Employment – Full Service Firm in 2014 and 2015 and was named an Employment Practice of the Year by Law360 in 2014 and 2015.

Interested professionals can access the videos through an online portal and they will be able to subscribe to Employment NOW in order to receive updates when new videos are launched.
