SINGAPORE, October 27, 2016: Morgan Lewis has been named to The American Lawyer‘s Asia 100 for the first time, ranking 25th in the survey’s Global Players category of the 50 global firms with the most lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region.
The American Lawyer reports that Morgan Lewis is “the single largest gainer by percentage” over the past five years, increasing from 10 lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region in 2011 to 90 lawyers last year. The publication notes that the increase occurred primarily as a result of the firm’s expansion in Beijing and Tokyo in 2014, when it combined with Bingham McCutchen, coupled with its unique combination in 2015 with Singapore-based Stamford Law Corporation to create Morgan Lewis Stamford, the only fully integrated law firm in Singapore.
Last month, Morgan Lewis bolstered its commitment to Asia when it launched an office in Shanghai. The move represents a significant expansion of the firm’s services to clients with interests in China and markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region and the world. Shanghai is Morgan Lewis’s sixth office in Asia, its second in China, and its 29th worldwide. The Asia 100 survey was conducted before the Shanghai launch, which added another 23 lawyers and legal professionals.
