PHILADELPHIA, April 28, 2017: Morgan Lewis partner Marc Sonnenfeld has been selected as the sole recipient of The Legal Intelligencer’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The publication is honoring Mr. Sonnenfeld for his distinct impact on the legal profession in Pennsylvania and for helping to shape the law in the state.
During the span of his distinguished 45-year career at Morgan Lewis, Mr. Sonnenfeld has earned a reputation as one of the leading securities lawyers in the United States. He has played a pivotal role in the fates of many publicly held companies, defending class actions asserting violations of the federal securities laws, derivative cases, claims arising from mergers and acquisitions, and appraisal actions, as well as regulatory and enforcement proceedings.
In addition to his innumerable courtroom successes, Mr. Sonnenfeld was instrumental in developing the Commerce Case Program of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, which was implemented in 2000 to provide a forum to resolve business disputes. The program has been copied in cities across the country and was highlighted in 2010 when he received the Philadelphia Bar Association's Wells Fargo Fidelity Award.
Mr. Sonnenfeld’s achievements have earned him dozens of recognitions throughout the years. A fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has also been recognized by clients and peers in Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Law360, Benchmark Litigation, Acritas, Best Lawyers in America, BTI Consulting Group, and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.
Mr. Sonnenfeld will be profiled by The Legal Intelligencer in an upcoming special issue and honored by the publication during an awards ceremony in Philadelphia on June 22.
