Morgan Lewis to Host 2017 New York, Boston Hedge Fund Conferences

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

NEW YORK and BOSTON, June 7, 2017: Morgan Lewis will hold its annual Hedge Fund Conferences in New York and Boston on June 13 and 15, respectively. The programs bring together members of the firm’s leading global practices and guest speakers to offer essential insight into the current investment environment and influencing factors.

Now in its tenth year, the full-day New York program will offer in-depth presentations by nearly 40 Morgan Lewis lawyers on advanced hedge fund topics including Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) enforcement trends, recent regulatory and examination priorities, institutional investor terms, hedge fund trends and seed investments, trading practices and investment positions, direct lending, changes in research practices, M&A, tax and ERISA updates, the international funds landscape, derivatives, cybersecurity, Cayman director issues, and insider trading and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Morgan Lewis partners Jedd Wider and Tim Levin will chair the day-long event.

In Boston, a similar, half-day program will be held featuring special guests Nick Halaby of Goldman Sachs and Mike Torissi of Morgan Stanley, who will share an informative overview of significant hedge fund trends. Discussion topics will include SEC regulatory and enforcement updates, hedge fund trends, permanent capital structures, M&A, current important changes in Washington, the international funds landscape, insider trading and the FCPA, and institutional investor terms. Partners Steve Giordano, Rich Goldman, and Steve Tirrell, will chair the afternoon session.

Both conferences will feature a timely presentation from Morgan Lewis Consulting President and former SEC chairman Chris Cox on how developments and trends in Washington affect the hedge funds space. In addition to his role as former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Cox also served as White House counsel to President Ronald Reagan and was a 17-year member of the US House of Representatives, serving as chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and the Select Committee on US National Security.
