Friday, September 14, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC, September 14, 2018: Morgan Lewis intellectual property partner Lawrence Stanley, Jr., has been named an interlocutory attorney for the US Trademark Trial and Appeals Board (TTAB).

The TTAB is an administrative tribunal within the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that hears and decides trial-level adversary proceedings regarding trademarks. In his new role, Mr. Stanley will be one of approximately 20 interlocutory attorneys who perform duties similar to those of a magistrate judge in federal court, including deciding non-dispositive motions and advising Administrative Trademark Judges on dispositive matters. He also will manage interlocutory issues in oppositions, cancellations, and concurrent use cases before the TTAB.

“This is a great honor for Larry, and one that is richly deserved,” said Morgan Lewis Chair Jami McKeon. “He is well qualified for this important position that is central to safeguarding many intellectual property rights.”

Over the course of his 15-year legal career, Mr. Stanley counseled clients on a wide variety of IP litigation matters. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, as well as at the International Trade Commission and the TTAB.
