The Strange Story of Section 230, the Obscure Law That Created Our Flawed, Broken Internet,

Partner Chris Cox is profiled in a article for his work co-writing the Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The article says that Cox wanted an Internet that made it harder for people to stumble across obscene or offensive content, without holding Internet companies responsible for content if they tried to moderate content on their sites. “It struck me that if that rule was going to take hold then the internet would become the Wild West and nobody would have any incentive to keep the internet civil,” Chris says in the article.
