Friday, April 12, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC, April 12, 2019: Morgan Lewis has received the Stephen K. Fischel Distinguished Public Service Award from the American Immigration Council for its support of the Immigration Justice Campaign, a joint initiative with the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The recognition honors individuals or organizations that demonstrate an outstanding pro bono commitment to representing immigrants and asylum seekers.

Morgan Lewis has an established history of service to individuals and families fleeing persecution in their countries of origin. In the past year alone, the firm provided critical legal services to individuals and families seeking asylum in the United States, serving as counsel in immigration court proceedings, requests for parole, and reconsideration of credible fear request denials. In one representation, the firm succeeded in reuniting a father and his 2-year-old son following three months of separation and detention in facilities that were thousands of miles apart.

The Stephen K. Fischel Distinguished Public Service Award was presented to Morgan Lewis during the annual D.C. Immigrant Achievement Awards reception on Thursday, April 11, in Washington, DC.
