New Rule Boosts Worker Perks Without Impacting Overtime, Bloomberg Law

Morgan Lewis partner Susan Harthill spoke with Bloomberg Law about a recently finalized US Department of Labor overtime regulation that is intended to expand the ability of companies to offer perks to employees. “Employers who want to offer benefits do sometimes exercise caution because of the complexity of the regular rate calculation, the costs and administrative burdens associated with calculating overtime payments on these benefits, and the risk of litigation,” said Susan in the article. “I think many companies will be taking a closer look at expanding their benefits packages now that the rule is final.”
