Associate Jensen Xu authored an article for Zhichanli on United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) v. Booking.com case. The US Supreme Court held on June 30, 2020 that Booking.com could register its domain name as a trademark, which reconfirmed the criteria for registering trademarks. In light of the judgement, the author advises that “Companies should make corresponding strategic adjustments in a timely manner, including optimizing consumer survey reports on disputed trademarks and re-evaluating the possible infringement risks caused by the use and registration of relevant domain names.”
