Proposed HIPAA Changes Generally Favorable, Though New Burdens May Arise, Experts Say, MedCity News

Morgan Lewis partner Reece Hirsch was quoted in a MedCity News article about the US Department of Health and Human Services’ proposed changes to the HIPAA privacy rule. “[The proposed change] is more flexible than the current standard,” said Reece in the article. “And it would have a wide-ranging impact on many common situations, such as when a hospital is deciding whether to share medical information with family members or designated contacts during a health emergency.”
