Chai is interviewed in a Q&A on how to “Cultivate an Inclusive Workplace,” where she explains how workplaces should take into account diversity, generational shifts, and current events when developing an inclusive workplace for their employers.
“There are three reasons to think about the business need for really doing diversity and inclusion well. Research shows that if you bring in people with different life experiences, you will get new and better ideas. Two, a lot of companies spend a lot of time hiring, making sure that they get diverse folks in. But if there's not real inclusion, then those folks will leave. Finally, the competitive business reason is that people from the public notice. Shareholders notice. Employees who are not diverse notice if there's not diversity and inclusion. And there will be adverse business effects, either in public relations or in harm to the brand,” Chai said in the article.
