Unusual Supreme Court Majority Narrows Scope of Computer Anti-Hacking Law, Los Angeles Times

Partner Mark Krotoski was quoted in a Los Angeles Times article after a Supreme Court ruling resolved a longstanding split in the circuit courts on whether the primary federal computer statute covers access by an employee to restricted areas on a company’s or a government’s network. “Given the central role and value of data in today’s commerce and society, it is time to modernize the primary federal computer statute to ensure that appropriate criminal and civil remedies apply to the theft of data,” said Mark.
