Brokers Could Stagger Under Paperwork Burden From SEC Market Overhaul, Financial Planning

Partner Ignacio Sandoval was featured in a Financial Planning article about a proposal from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) aimed at ensuring brokers find the best deals when buying stocks or bonds on behalf of clients. Ignacio said the proposal would require brokers to file more paperwork, with smaller brokers potentially having to pay for software from outside vendors to comply with the rule.

"There's a lot more data out there that you are going to have to scrape and cull and put into black box and say, 'What's the best venue to send that to? '" Ignacio said.

"Obviously some brokers are not going to have the capacity to build that in-house. And that's where the vendors are going to come in."
