CHICAGO, December 12, 2022: Morgan Lewis associate James Looby has been named to the 2022 edition of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s 40 Under Forty list. The annual honor recognizes up-and-coming lawyers across Illinois based on recommendations from other lawyers that speak to their success in the profession and involvement in their community.
James litigates cases involving individual claims and class as well as collective actions arising under federal, state, and local employment laws. His work includes complex cases throughout the United States involving wage and hour disputes, executive severance agreements, discrimination, and retaliation. Before joining Morgan Lewis, James served as a law clerk to Judge William J. Bauer of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and Judge Thomas M. Durkin of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
In addition to his employment litigation work, James maintains an active pro bono practice. He is a past recipient of the Chicago office’s annual pro bono practice award. James serves as a member of Morgan Lewis’s Chicago office Hiring Committee and Associates Committee and the ML Well Global Working Group. He is also an active member of the Chicago Inn of Court and contributes to the American Bar Association’s annual publication of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) case summaries.
