International Employment Lawyer quoted associate Daniel Kadish in an article about new employment laws in New York, including one that expands the state’s definition of larceny to include wage theft.
“It clarifies that in a criminal proceeding for wage theft, prosecutors can aggregate all non-payments or under payments from one person to another in a single larceny count, even if the payment violation occurred in multiple counties,” Daniel said of the new law. He added that the law also allows prosecutors to bring potentially higher charges all at once since the charges will reflect all underpayments instead of only those in a single county.
