Thursday, October 17, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC, October 17, 2019: Morgan Lewis announced today that 100% of its 2,100 eligible lawyers around the world met the firm’s Pro Bono Challenge to dedicate at least 20 hours to pro bono service during fiscal year 2019, which ended September 30. All told, Morgan Lewis lawyers contributed more than 132,000 hours to the pro bono representation of individuals and nonprofit organizations.

“Performing pro bono service is a core value at Morgan Lewis, and I am thrilled that our lawyers in every office and in every practice around the world fully embrace our commitment to helping the most vulnerable in the communities where we live and work,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Whether it is helping veterans obtain benefits, immigrants seeking asylum, families facing homelessness, or nonprofits confronting legal challenges as they provide critical services to the underserved, our pro bono work results in demonstrable benefits that often bring new beginnings.”

Morgan Lewis’s primary pro bono focus is on helping economically disadvantaged individuals and families as well as nonprofit and nongovernmental groups that serve vulnerable populations. This important work, which occurs every day across Morgan Lewis, culminates in the firm’s annual Community Impact Week, where last June lawyers and professional staff participated in approximately 175 events—including legal clinics, legal trainings, panel discussions, volunteer events, charity drives, and more—across the firm’s 31 offices in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
