PHILADELPHIA, February 26, 2020: G. Jeffrey Boujoukos, who most recently served as director of the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Philadelphia Regional Office, will rejoin Morgan Lewis as a partner focusing on securities enforcement defense, internal investigations, and financial services litigation. Jeff, who was a Morgan Lewis partner before serving more than 10 years with the SEC, will reside in the firm’s offices in Philadelphia and Washington, DC.

As a regional director at the SEC, Jeff supervised the agency’s examination and enforcement programs in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Prior, he served as the SEC’s associate regional director over enforcement from 2014 to 2016. Jeff began his tenure at the SEC in 2009 as regional trial counsel in the Philadelphia office, conducting litigation through trial and supervising actions pending in federal court and administrative proceedings.

Jeff’s return follows on the heels of another former government official’s return to the firm in January, Matthew Miner, who served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division, at the US Department of Justice.

“Jeff has a strong reputation as a talented trial and enforcement lawyer, and we are thrilled to welcome him back,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “We value public service and client service, and are honored to have returning officials call us home again. Clients appreciate the insight and knowledge those like Jeff bring.”

While in private practice, Jeff regularly defended financial services clients and their executives in SEC, self-regulatory organization, and state enforcement matters. He represented broker-dealers and their employees in numerous FINRA customer-initiated arbitrations across the United States. Jeff also has civil litigation experience in securities and other commercial matters, and has represented clients in shareholder class actions and derivative actions against public and private corporations, directors, and officers.

“We are focused on bolstering our SEC enforcement capabilities and are delighted to welcome back Jeff to our firm,” said J. Gordon Cooney, Jr., leader of Morgan Lewis’s global litigation practice. “Combining his outstanding government experience and previous career at Morgan Lewis, Jeff is able to hit the ground running and work seamlessly with other partners in our securities, white collar defense, and investment management practices to the benefit of our clients.”

Morgan Lewis was named Law Firm of the Year in 2019 for Securities Regulation by US News/Best Lawyers – Best Law Firms and was ranked as a Standout Firm for Securities/Finance by BTI Litigation Outlook for 2020.
