HONG KONG: September 3, 2018: Morgan Lewis today welcomes Helen Fok, an investment management partner resident in Hong Kong. She joins from Simmons & Simmons.
Helen advises financial institutions, banks, asset managers, hedge fund managers, custodians, exchanges, alternative trading platforms, and sovereign wealth funds on all matters under the Securities and Futures Ordinance and the Banking Ordinance. The scope of her work includes advising on licensing applications for banks, stored value facilities and financial intermediaries, conduct of business rules, client asset rules, financial resources rules, and conflicts of interests.
“I am excited to welcome Helen to Morgan Lewis. She will provide valuable assistance to our clients as they pursue their business interests throughout Asia,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “This region is a major priority for our firm and having Helen on board deepens our capabilities to serve clients in this thriving part of the world.”
Morgan Lewis continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to its Asia practice, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years. In 2015, following its combination with The Stamford Law Firm, the firm established a strong presence in Singapore serving clients across the region. In 2017, Morgan Lewis gained formal approval from The Law Society of Hong Kong to form an association with Luk & Partners, solidifying the firm’s offering to clients in Greater China and across Asia more broadly.
“Helen’s arrival will further strengthen our capabilities in the region,” said Louis Singer, leader of Morgan Lewis's investment management practice. “Conduct of business and compliance remain key considerations for financial institutions, and Helen’s experience in this area will be of great value to our clients in Hong Kong and throughout Asia.”
