WASHINGTON, DC, January 2, 2019: In a further expansion of its intellectual property practice, Morgan Lewis today welcomes Hosang Lee as a partner resident in Washington, DC. Hosang, who focuses on patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation, has extensively represented clients based in Korea and other parts of Asia. He arrives from another global law firm and joins 16 former partner colleagues and many other lawyers—including of counsel Daniel Bucca, who joined Morgan Lewis last month—in broadening the firm’s technology and life sciences industry focus in IP patent prosecution and litigation.
Hosang represents clients involved in a wide range of industries and products, including automotive, lighting, semiconductors, telecommunications, electronics, fuel cells, solar and green technology, and medical and display devices.
“The addition of Hosang and his team deepens our capabilities to serve clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region, which remains a chief priority for our firm, and further strengthens our Korea-focused practice,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon.
Hosang is a member of the Korean Patent Bar and holds an electrical engineering degree from Seoul National University. He has represented many of Korea’s major companies in preparing and prosecuting both US and non-US patent applications, and he has extensively represented clients in IP strategic planning, patent portfolio management, licensing, litigation, and disputes and post-issuance proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Dan, who has a Ph.D. in polymer science, works primarily with clients engaged in the life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, materials, and energy technologies sectors.
“I am delighted to welcome Hosang and Dan as the newest members of our growing IP team since adding more than 40 lawyers and other professionals in Northern and Southern California, Chicago, and Washington, DC, in 2018,” said Eric Kraeutler, leader of Morgan Lewis’s IP practice. “Their commitment to our core values of exceptional client service, collaboration, and teamwork—coupled with their energy and enthusiasm—make them ideal fits for Morgan Lewis.”
