Monday, September 11, 2017

LONDON, September 11, 2017: Morgan Lewis today announces that Louise Skinner, a lawyer with a sophisticated employment disputes and counseling practice in the financial services sector, has joined the firm as a labor and employment partner in London from one of the United Kingdom’s leading law firms.

Ms. Skinner represents clients in claims involving unfair and constructive dismissal, whistleblowing, discrimination, and contractual disputes. She frequently advises on the employment aspects of cross-border regulatory investigations and regulatory personnel issues, including disciplinary proceedings, complex issues of privilege, and employee compensation issues such as the withholding and forfeiture of bonus payments and deferred compensation.

“Louise’s excellent credentials blend perfectly with our firm’s top-tier labor and employment capabilities, enhancing our ability to handle complex and high-profile work for our institutional clients,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Her addition enriches the services of our London office while deepening our bench of outstanding employment lawyers who advise clients on increasingly global workforce matters.”

Ms. Skinner also counsels clients on equality and diversity matters and provides strategic advice on issues such as pay equity, parental rights, quotas, and positive action in recruitment and promotion.

“Louise’s focus on the intersection of employment and regulatory issues, especially in the financial services and life sciences sector, is a great complement to our labor and employment practice and enhances our ability to provide clients with a broad array of services,” said Morgan Lewis partner Grace E. Speights, who heads the practice group.

Ms. Skinner’s arrival follows the firm’s announcement in June that well-known London white collar litigation and investigations lawyers Chris Warren-Smith and Melanie Ryan have joined Morgan Lewis. The firm now counts more than 70 lawyers in its fast-growing London office, a 300% growth rate since 2012. Working with colleagues around the world, lawyers in the London office represent clients in the financial services, energy, and technology sectors, and drive market-leading projects across legal disciplines in finance, transactions, investment funds, international tax, competition, dispute resolution, immigration, and labor and employment.

With more than 330 lawyers and other professionals throughout the world, the labor, employment, and benefits practice at Morgan Lewis advises employers in a full range of workplace matters, with deep industry knowledge in financial services, technology, energy, healthcare, retail, pharmaceuticals, transportation, defense, food and hospitality, insurance, and manufacturing. The practice and its lawyers are highly ranked by Chambers in several employment and related categories.
