Morgan Lewis Advises Republic of Suriname on Debut Sovereign Bond Offering

LONDON AND NEW YORK, October 28, 2016: Morgan Lewis served as US legal adviser to the Republic of Suriname on a $550 million Eurobond offering which closed on October 26.

The offering of 9.25% Notes due 2026 was made under Rule 144A and Regulation S, and the bonds are listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. It is Suriname’s first-ever sovereign Eurobond offering.

“We are pleased to have advised Suriname on this successful capital-raising transaction, which is a milestone in the country’s development as it continues to implement its economic reform program,” commented partner Carter Brod, who led the Morgan Lewis team.

Partners Timothy DeSieno and Howard Kenny and associate Katherine Dean provided support on the transaction. The firm also advised Suriname on an $86 million private placement of Senior Notes last spring.
