LOS ANGELES, January 21, 2015 – Morgan Lewis is pleased to announce the appointment of partner Rick R. Rothman as co-managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office effective immediately as the firm – now one of the largest in the world – begins a significant new chapter in 2015. Mr. Rothman joins David L. Schrader in the role.

Mr. Rothman focuses on environmental and energy counseling and litigation. He is recognized as a leading environmental practitioner. TheChambers USA guide quotes clients who describe him as an “expert in air quality matters” and “very smart and knowledgeable, and easy to work with.” Mr. Rothman’s practice encompasses a broad range of environmental and energy laws, including air quality (both stationary and mobile sources), water quality, power plant siting, hazardous substances, impacted properties, and Proposition 65. Mr. Rothman joined the firm from Bingham McCutchen, where he served as managing partner of the Los Angeles office. He earned his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. at the University of Michigan.

Mr. Schrader, a senior partner in the Litigation Practice, has been successfully litigating cases across the United States for nearly 25 years. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Schrader represents clients in many industries—energy, manufacturing, and life sciences, among others—in some of their most critical matters. In addition to courtroom work, he serves as a global litigation strategist and has been named one of California's 100 most influential attorneys. Mr. Schrader has tried high-stakes cases in state and federal courts from California to New York. He earned his J.D. at Boston University School of Law and his B.S. at the University of Delaware.

“We are thrilled to have Rick and David as joint leaders of our Los Angeles office, particularly at such an exciting time for the firm with our enhanced abilities to counsel and serve new and valued clients,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Morgan Lewis is dedicated to delivering the highest quality results to advance our clients’ legal and business interests – from Los Angeles to Tokyo, London to San Francisco, Silicon Valley to Moscow, and points in between.”

Morgan Lewis offers clients global access to broad capabilities across a comprehensive spectrum of services and industries addressing virtually every aspect of corporate, financial, and asset management operations.
