Morgan Lewis Continues to Grow Litigation and IP Teams in Chicago

Thursday, March 17, 2011

CHICAGO, March 17, 2011: Morgan Lewis today announced that Jason White—who represents companies across multiple industries in the intellectual property and patent litigation areas—and commercial litigator Romeo S. Quinto have joined the firm as partners in its Intellectual Property and Litigation practices, resident in Chicago. Their arrival follows that of eight other attorneys—including partners David Clough, Kenneth Kliebard, and Scott Schutte—who have joined the firm in Chicago this year, bringing the total number of Morgan Lewis lawyers in the Windy City to 60. David Patariu, Mansi Shah and Scott Sherwin, who previously worked closely with Messrs. White and Quinto at another AmLaw 100 firm, have also joined the firm as associates this week.

"The experience our newest partners bring to the firm adds to the robust capabilities we offer clients in a number of industries, as companies grapple with increasingly complex litigation and intellectual property issues," noted Jami McKeon, leader of the firm's Litigation Practice. "At a time when many firms are shrinking in Chicago, we are thrilled with our steady growth in all major practice areas," added Neal Aizenstein, Chicago Office Managing Partner for Morgan Lewis.

Mr. White focuses his practice primarily on patent litigation matters, and has represented many Fortune 500 companies—as both plaintiff and defendant—in complex litigation cases.  He has experience representing multiple companies accused of false patent marking by qui tam plaintiffs. He has also been involved in numerous high-stakes patent licensing matters, including representing several large companies in enforcing multiple patent portfolios through both litigation and nonlitigation licensing activities. Mr. White has also represented companies in conjunction with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures involving substantial intellectual property portfolios.

Mr. Quinto has broad commercial litigation experience, including antitrust, class action defense, and trade secret disputes. He has represented national and international companies in the automotive, food, pharmaceutical, and tobacco industries. In addition to his trial court practice, Mr. Quinto's appellate experience includes the representation of both appellants and appellees, appeals and cross-appeals, and obtaining client victories in federal and state appellate courts.  He previously served as a law clerk to Judge David D. Dowd, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
