January 07, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC, January 7, 2019: Morgan Lewis today welcomes Shannon Donnelly as a labor and employment partner who assists corporate clients in immigration matters related to the global mobility of key executives and other professionals. Shannon, a Chambers-recognized lawyer who will be resident in Washington, DC, is joined by of counsel Laura Garvin, who will be resident in Miami, and a team of associates and immigration specialists. They arrive from the same global law firm, where Shannon led the Washington office’s immigration and global mobility team.

Shannon facilitates the cross-border movement of key executives, managers, and workers with specialized knowledge, particularly for employers in the United States and Canada. She also coordinates global compliance programs for multinational clients and provides strategic advice related to global immigration policies and best practices. Laura advises employers on a broad range of immigration compliance and agency facilitation issues before US federal agencies involved with immigration. Both have assisted numerous international clients engaged in high volumes of immigration and visa issues.

“With in-depth legal analysis and effective advocacy skills, Shannon and Laura are well positioned to assist our clients as they navigate the challenging environment of continual changes in immigration law,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Their team’s arrival further strengthens our thriving immigration practice as they assist clients across multiple industries with their global workforce needs.”

Among the clients Shannon represents are those involved in the investment banking and securities, personal and commercial banking, information technology, economic consulting, manufacturing, and healthcare industries, as well as nonprofit organizations.

“Shannon and Laura have earned the trust of sophisticated clients who require elite-level assistance to ensure access to key executive and specialist talent worldwide,” said Grace Speights, who leads Morgan Lewis’s labor and employment practice. “These lawyers know what it takes to deliver the solutions our clients need in this dynamic area of the law.”
