Morgan Lewis Moves to New State-of-the-Art Silicon Valley Office

Monday, March 14, 2016

PALO ALTO, California, March 14, 2016: Morgan Lewis today completed the move of its Silicon Valley office into a new, state-of-the-art office building in the heart of the country’s leading technology center. Located at 1400 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, California, the building is designed to meet peak green building resource and energy efficiency standards.

The office provides Morgan Lewis clients, lawyers, and staff approximately 61,000 square feet of scalable space for work, client meetings, and events. Morgan Lewis is the primary tenant of the building, which was constructed in compliance with LEED Platinum standards, the ultimate measure of sustainable design. Its location within the historic Stanford Research Park places the firm’s nearly 70 Silicon Valley-based transactional, intellectual property, tax, labor and employment, employee benefits, antitrust, and real estate lawyers steps away from many of the region’s top technology innovators and professional services providers.

“Our new Silicon Valley office aligns perfectly with our commitment to technological innovation and the highest levels of client service,” said Morgan Lewis Chair Jami McKeon. “We have created a flexible, environmentally friendly space that is secure, comfortable, and convenient for both our clients and our personnel.”

The two-story interior features efficiently organized individual office spaces and adaptable, centrally located meeting rooms equipped with high-tech audio/visual capabilities to connect the firm’s lawyers and clients throughout the world. The new office also incorporates an open-plan gathering space, and easy access to an outdoor park-like area for events and working groups.

The green building features include solar panels on the roof and over an outdoor parking area that together are expected to provide sufficient energy to serve most of the building’s needs. Located a short walk from public transportation, the building includes secure parking for bicycles and provides a large number of electric vehicle charging stations. Morgan Lewis, which already conducts an extensive recycling program in its offices, is further reducing waste by foregoing the use of items such as paper plates and coffee cups in the new office.

“We have created a space that promotes teamwork and collegiality, and which also assures confidentiality—all within one of the most sustainable buildings in existence,” said Thomas Kellerman, a commercial transactions partner who spearheaded the move to the new office. “The layout also includes a significant outdoor component, which will allow everyone to take advantage of the spectacular Palo Alto climate when hosting special events or meetings.”

“We think our new workplace ideally complements and showcases our location at the world’s center of technological innovation,” said Melinda Riechert, managing partner of the Silicon Valley office. “The office more effectively allocates space within an outstanding, highly functional, and easily accessible locale that our clients, personnel, and visitors will enjoy for many years.”

Commercial real estate specialist JLL assisted in negotiating Morgan Lewis’s move into the building.
