Morgan Lewis Partner Allyson Ho Honored with Outstanding Appellate Lawyer Award

March 07, 2018

HOUSTON, March 7, 2018: Morgan Lewis partner Allyson Ho has received the 2018 Gregory S. Coleman Outstanding Appellate Lawyer Award from the Texas Bar Foundation based on her outstanding appellate practice, strong commitment to providing legal services for the underserved, and dedication to mentoring lawyers who are in the early stages of their legal careers.

Established in 2011 in honor and memory of Gregory S. Coleman, the award celebrates the high ideals and standards that Mr. Coleman demonstrated in his appellate practice and personal life.

Ms. Ho co-chairs Morgan Lewis’s appellate practice. She represents clients in high-stakes litigation in US state and federal trial and appellate courts nationwide, including the US Supreme Court, where she has argued multiple times as lead counsel. Ms. Ho has presented more than 50 oral arguments and litigated cases in every federal court of appeals as well as in the highest courts of multiple states. She has won cases for Fortune 500 companies, represented former high-ranking US and foreign government officials in federal court, and counseled US senators and presidential candidates. In 2014, Ms. Ho was the only female lawyer in private practice to argue more than one case at the US Supreme Court—arguing two cases within 21 days. Last year she argued two more cases before the High Court.

Acknowledged as one of the top appellate lawyers in the country, Ms. Ho was named a 2015 Appellate MVP by Law360 and one of the top 20 “winning women” litigators in Texas. Chambers characterized Ms. Ho as “a superstar young appellate lawyer,” and the National Law Journal included her in its 2010 Appellate Hot List. In 2017, she was recognized as a “Distinguished Leader” by Texas Lawyer, listed in Benchmark Litigation Star and The Best Lawyers in America, and named a Top Woman Lawyer in Best Lawyers.

Ms. Ho is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, a designation reserved for only the top one-third of one percent of the state’s lawyers. She will be honored by the foundation at its annual dinner on June 22, 2018.
