SINGAPORE, September 13, 2016: Three Morgan Lewis Stamford partners have been named individual practice-area contenders for Euromoney Legal Media Group’s 2016 Asia Women in Business Law Awards.

Singapore Office Managing Partner Suet-Fern Lee, a past winner of the “Best in M&A and Private Equity” category in 2012 and 2013, is a nominee for this award again in 2016. Partner Wendy Tan has been shortlisted, for the fourth consecutive year, for the “Best in Shipping” category. Partner Elizabeth Kong is a nominee in the “Rising Star: Corporate” category for the second consecutive year.

The Asia Women in Business Law Awards recognize law firms and professional services firms for their efforts in helping women advance in the legal profession, with awards split into individual and law firm categories. Winners are decided by senior editorial staff following an extensive research process, based on their professional accomplishments as well as advocacy and influence within their field during the last 12 months.

Widely recognized by the international business community as a business leader and leading lawyer, Ms. Lee became the first woman lawyer in Asia-Pacific to be honored with Chambers and Partners’ Lifetime Achievement Award in April this year. She was also conferred the same award by Asian Legal Business in 2007 and named the Lawyer of the Year (Mergers & Acquisitions) by Best Lawyers in 2012 and 2013.

Ms. Tan’s work in dispute resolution, international trade and shipping has won her recognition from the legal fraternity, including Local Dispute Stars in General Commercial Insurance and Arbitration by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific (2013), Best Lawyers in Singapore for Maritime Law and Trade Law (5th, 6th and 7th editions), Who’s Who Legal for Transport-Shipping (2014), and Clients’ Choice – International Law Office award for Shipping and Transport in Singapore (2014).

The complexity of Ms. Kong’s deal work has been recognized by the IFLR Asia Awards and Asian Legal Business Southeast Asia Law Awards. Singapore Business Review named her one of the most influential lawyers aged 40 and under (2014) and Prestige Singapore magazine included her on its list of 40 under 40, describing her as a “go-to rising star for corporate law matters” in the same year.

Award winners will be announced at a November 9 ceremony in Hong Kong.
