New California Law Requires Emergency Responders to Be on Call During Breaks, HR Magazine

Morgan Lewis partner Melinda Riechert is quoted in an article by HR Magazine about a measure approved by California voters that requires private-sector ambulance workers to remain on call during breaks. Riechert notes in the article that this is “one of the most important cases ever to come out of the California Supreme Court.” She adds that employees being required to respond if contacted is not considered a duty-free break.
