NEW YORK, May 25, 2012: Pearson plc, the world's leading learning company, today announced the acquisition of GlobalEnglish, a provider of cloud-based, on-demand Business English learning, assessment and performance support software.
Pearson agreed to acquire Brisbane, Calif.-based GlobalEnglish from its current ownership group, which includes management and financial investors, for $90 million in cash. GlobalEnglish, which serves 450 corporate customers with 180,000 active subscribers, will be part of Pearson's wider Global English language teaching business. The closing of the transaction is subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
