NEW YORK, August 4, 2014: Morgan Lewis today announced that Amy Greer, a top litigator with a particular emphasis on defending matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has joined Morgan Lewis as a partner in its Litigation Practice, resident in the New York office. The addition of Ms. Greer to the Morgan Lewis team strengthens the firm’s capabilities to assist clients in navigating and defending against SEC enforcement actions and investigations and similar matters involving agency or regulator scrutiny.
An accomplished trial lawyer, Ms. Greer previously was co-leader of the securities litigation and enforcement practice at another global Am Law 100 firm. She focuses her practice on securities and regulatory investigations and litigation. Ms. Greer represents clients in confidential investigation matters pending in several different offices of the SEC, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), self-regulatory organizations (SROs), and state attorneys general and securities commissions. She also conducts, manages, and assists clients in connection with internal investigations, compliance, training, and self-reporting.
Additionally, Ms. Greer’s background includes representing clients in civil securities litigation matters. Ms. Greer previously served as Regional Trial Counsel in the Philadelphia Regional Office of the SEC, acting as chief litigation counsel and managing a staff of lawyers responsible for a variety of enforcement matters. Ms. Greer also has a long history of volunteer service, pro bono work, and service to the bar.
“We are pleased to welcome a partner with Amy’s range of experience to round out our growing team of securities enforcement and litigation lawyers,” Firm Chair Francis M. Milone said. “Her background and skills will further enhance our capabilities in these key areas at a time of increasing regulatory scrutiny of financial institutions and public companies.”
“Amy has worked on a broad range of securities litigation and enforcement matters representing public corporations, financial services firms, and individuals facing investigations by multiple offices and agencies,” said Gordon Cooney, practice group leader of Morgan Lewis’s Litigation Practice. “Her addition to our securities litigation and enforcement sub-practice group, a core practice area within our litigation practice, solidifies our notable enforcement services for clients throughout the United States.”
“Morgan Lewis has the breadth and depth of practices to help clients navigate the full spectrum of compliance, regulatory, enforcement, and litigation issues. I am thrilled to join such an accomplished and experienced team,” said Ms. Greer.
“We have made a strategic commitment to continue expanding our cross-practice legal services offering,” said Charles Engros, New York office managing partner and leader of the firm’s Business and Finance Practice. “Amy fortifies our existing New York securities litigation and enforcement practice and offers synergies with our strong firmwide white collar and investment management practices.”
