WASHINGTON and CHICAGO, July 30, 2013: Morgan Lewis Labor and Employment partner Philip A. Miscimarra was confirmed today, by a voice vote of the United States Senate, to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB or Board). Mr. Miscimarra was nominated by President Obama on April 9, 2013, and approved by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, by unanimous vote, on May 22, 2013. The NLRB is responsible for conducting elections involving union representation and deciding cases that involve federal labor law.
"We are delighted that the Senate has confirmed Phil's nomination," said Firm Chair Francis M. Milone. "Phil has played a significant role in our labor and employment practice, and he will make an important contribution to the NLRB."
Mr. Miscimarra joined Morgan Lewis's Chicago office as a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice in 2005. He is also a senior fellow at the Wharton Center for Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and is widely recognized for his academic work, which includes three books regarding the National Labor Relations Act and the NLRB. He has represented parties in significant matters involving the Board, and has testified before Congress regarding labor and employment issues.
