Morgan Lewis Partner Named Minority Business Leader by Philadelphia Business Journal

PHILADELPHIA, July 17, 2014: Morgan Lewis is pleased to announce that Labor and Employment partner Dennis Morikawa has been recognized with the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Minority Business Leaders award. The annual award honors top minority business leaders in the Philadelphia area for their contributions in business and in the community. Mr. Morikawa will be recognized at the Minority Business Leaders Awards Program on August 7.

Mr. Morikawa is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice, where he leads the Occupational Safety and Health Law Practice. He represents management in labor and employment law issues, focusing on matters arising under the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Mine Safety and Health Act. Mr. Morikawa was a founding member of the Asian American Bar Association of the Delaware Valley and served as its first President from 1984 to 1987.

Mr. Morikawa serves as Honorary Consul General of Japan in Philadelphia, a position he was nominated to by the Foreign Minister of Japan. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, which sponsors the annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, a two-week event highlighting Japanese culture and promoting friendship and understanding between the people of the United States and of Japan.

In addition to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader award, Mr. Morikawa has previously been recognized by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's with its “Trailblazers” Award, the highest honor given by that organization. He was also the 2013 recipient of the Pennsylvania Diversity Council’s Multicultural Leadership Award.
