Thomas Kellerman discusses the ample attention focused on the role and duties of boards of directors of publicly held companies, but the simultaneous lack of awareness of directors of privately held ones.

In this article, Thomas states that as the opportunities for influence by directors of smaller emerging growth companies can be far more complex than those of publicly held ones, there are a few guiding principles he recommends using to help organize a private company board and access the value directors have to offer.
