Co-author, Ban, Boom, or Bust? A Review of Legal Issues Associated with Crude Oil Exports from the United States, Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Vol. 61, Ch. 18B


This article, published in the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s 61st Annual Institute report, discusses and evaluates the controversy regarding easing crude oil export restrictions. The article concludes that “[o]n balance, recent studies and analyses support lifting or easing existing restrictions on crude exports as LTO [light tight oil] production levels continue to increase.”At the time the article was written, exports of crude oil were banned. Those bans have since been lifted.
